Christina Foitou
Painter & performance artist, Poitiers, France
Christina Foitou was born and raised in Athens, Greece. Initially she studied pedagogy and then continued her studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Venice, in painting with Riccardo Guarneri and in printmaking with Mario Guadagnino, where she graduated with honours. She worked as a teacher of visual arts in the public and private education sector. In 2007 she moved to Chania, Crete where she dedicated herself to painting and performance art while continuing to host art workshops for children and adults. Her visual work is based on the observation of the body and its parts, its kinesiology and forms of expression. This led her to use performance art as a medium, sometimes as a work in itself and sometimes as a complementary action to her paintings. She has participated in many group exhibitions, art fairs and performance festivals alongside solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Foitou's works are in private and public collections. Since 2018 she lives and works in France.
